A matter of choice

A lot has happen lately. Next month two of my boys will be furthering their study at new places that poses new challenges to them. My daughter quit the technical school that she had attended for three months and moved back to my school.

I have moved to the second staff room that is considered as 'second class' because of congestion in the first staff room. I have to make way for other teachers so that they will be more spacious and comfortable. Of course it upset me at first since the second staff room is lack of basic amenities. But as a good muslim I have to look at the bright sides. I have a bigger area for myself. And a place for my daughter to study with me after school hours. Adaption just took me two days. A teacher asked me why I moved to the second staff room which she think is inappropriate for me. I just said why not? It's not where you work that matters but how good is your work. One would argue that your working environment does affect your quality of work. I would not disagree with that but I'm not the kind of person that would let such petty thing upset me. If we work because of Allah, then the reward is from Allah. And I'm being rewarded every second, hour and day. What more can I ask?

Reflecting my life, there's a lot of hardship that have help me being a tough person that I am now. Just like Allah said in the Holy Qur'an, every hardship is accompanied by something good. We just have to open our heart to all the blessings around us. We can choose to live a contended life or we can choose to live a miserable life despite everything that we have. I choose to lead a contented life.

May Allah bless all of us.
